Summary
A figured mahogany library table or desk, English, circa 1770. The rectangular moulded top inset with gilt-tooled leather, the side friezes with dummy drawers, the centre drawer in the long frieze can be used from either side as it is the full depth of the table and is flanked by four short drawers, all cock-beaded and with original brass handles, raised on square moulded legs with a slight taper and terminating in block feet, standing on large iron castors.
Provenance
Amongst the chattels collected by the Cawley family for Berrington Hall. Purchased by the National Trust from Sir Frederick Lee Cawley, 3rd Baron Cawley in 2001.
