Summary
One of three silk lining fragments a) and e) - Cream silk plain weave; cream/pale aqua plain weave (tabby) a) hand sewn, two selvages, cut on four sides; a) lining; b) machine sewn seams; unpicked seams, folded, cut and frayed on four sides; perhaps bedhead cover (?). a) lining. c) hand sewn seam; very similar in shape to b) aqua silk dust in seams. e) lining. Silk furniture to 18th century bed.
Provenance
Attingham collection (but unknown where this was bought or where it was hung); bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
