Summary
One of a pair of cardboard card-racks, with elaborately shaped red backplate, tapering pocket to front decorated with grisaille of two putti, arms out-stretched to phoenix type birds. Hung on pink silk ribbon. Applied gilt paper borders, stamped decoration. Made in France, circa 1820.
Provenance
Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
