Summary
Yellow lampas brocade stole. Yellow silk warps; pale blue and ivory silk wefts; warp faced satin ground, weft faced motifs. Lampas. Design; not complete; Neo-Classical. See ATT/TC(Gill Medland Cat)/216. a) Silver gilt thread and ivory silk braid 16 mm; b) silver gilt thread and ivory silk braid 30 mm. Pink/brown glazed linen plain weave. Hand and machine sewn; lined throughout; fabric pieced together; narrow straight band at centre widening either end. Bordered with a) either end; cross at centre and either end of b). 18th century. Made in Italy or France.
