Summary
Two bobbin lace borders. Cream cotton threads. Bobbin lace mesh ground, gimp motifs. Design; repeat 45 mm. Flower sprays from ground and scattered. a) and b) Straight heading and footing, finished either end. Made in Buckinghamshire, late 18th century.
Provenance
Found in envelope in white box with letter and Note. Label on Box A) 'Old lace to be repaired'. B) 'Burano lace - Mrs Hulton' (only Burano piece identified is ATT/TC/156). Found in box 14 pieces of lace ATT/TC/181-194. 8th Lady Berwick collection; bequeathed to the National Trust by Edith Teresa Hulton, Lady Berwick (1890-1972).
