Summary
Needle lace border. Cream linen thread needle lace with mesh ground, motifs worked in buttonhole outlined with buttonhole over horsehair. Design; scroll, with small flowers between. Repeat 8 cm. Straight footing and heading cut either end. ..... ' 1 yd 15 in for 52/6'. Made in Alencon, France, circa 1800.

Found in yellow box with handwritten note by Lady Berwick (1890-1972) 'Lace, Mechlin and Alencon belonging to Empress Eugenie. Old Brussels bought in London'. 8th Lady Berwick collection; bequeathed to the National Trust by Edith Teresa Hulton, Lady Berwick (1890-1972).
