Summary
18th century Flemish bobbin lace border; the lace is known as 'Polten Kant'. Cream and pink/beige linen thread. Bobbin lace with linen stitch and plaited mesh ground. Both cream and pink/beige cords (cordonnets) outlining motifs. Design; floral. Straight heading and footing, cut either end.
Provenance
Found in straw box with other laces and notes written by Lady Berwick (1890-1972). 8th Lady Berwick collection; bequeathed to the National Trust by Edith Teresa Hulton, Lady Berwick (1890-1972).
