Summary
One of two items of doll's clothing. A silk doll's jacket. Purple/black 'shot' silk 'taffeta'. Ruched black cotton machine woven square mesh with embroidered dot. Round neck; short puffed sleeves; neck and front opening trimmed. Hook and eye at neck. Bodice straight cut and frayed at waist. Possibly made in Italy towards end of 19th century.

Perhaps intended for Lady Berwick's dolls. 8th Lady Berwick collection; bequeathed to the National Trust by Edith Teresa Hulton, Lady Berwick (1890-1972).
