Summary
One of 4 printed cotton fragments of curtain. Cotton warp faced satin weave screen printed three tones blue, two tones green. Black, turquoise to cream wash. Half drop repeat 560 mm x 620 mm; two repeats per width. 1950 interpretation of 18th century baroque sources. Floral with lace ribbons. Mid blue rayon cable twist fringe 45 mm. a) mid blue cotton satin weave (loom width 1210 mm). b) undyed cotton bump. Fabric and cotton bump. All cut from curtains. Hand and machine sewn, interlined only. Made in France by Harmonie de Laurent Stere circa 1950.
Provenance
Fragments from a set of curtains probably bought by the National Trust at an auction post 1950 and used by the Administrator for private staff apartments in the Mansion until their removal in May 2007.
