Summary

Sculpture, white marble, Chimneypieces with stylised lotus leaf capitals, Picture Gallery, Attingham Hall by John Nash (Cardigan 1752 – East Cowes 1835). Two white marble chimneypieces with plain entablatures raised on shallow Egyptian flavour pilasters. Carved with stylised lotus leaf capitals and arched panel to centre field with acanthus carving and plain base. Designed by John Nash circa 1805.

Provenance

2nd Lord Berwick collection: Thomas Noel Hill, 2nd Baron Berwick (1770 – 1832). By descent bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
