Chimneypiece with an entablature supported on twin fluted Corinthian columns with acanthus leaf capitals. Carved figurative panels to frieze, rinceau foliage and lyres, after Angelica Kauffman's 'Beauty Governed by Reason Rewarded by Merit'. Sculpted by John Deval the Younger in 1785.
Provenance
1st Lord Berwick collection: Noel Hill, 1st Baron Berwick (1745 – 1789). By descent bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
