Summary
white marble, Chimneypiece, Entrance Hall, Attingham Hall possibly by Bossi (fl.c.1785-1798). White marble chimneypiece with stepped entablature above a central rectangular tablet to a frieze inlaid with circular wreath flanked by darker scagliola fluting. Pilaster jambs decorated with palmette above a line of cornucopiae. Possibly sculpted by Bossi, circa 1785. England or Ireland?
Provenance
1st Lord Berwick collection: Noel Hill, 1st Baron Berwick (1745 – 1789). By descent bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
