Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, Frances Maria Mostyn-Owen, Mrs Noel-Hill (d.1840) by William Grimaldi (Shoreditch 1751 – London 1830), circa 1800. Head and shoulder portrait of a young woman, turned slightly to the left, gazing at the spectator and wearing a white dress. Light blue eyes, fresh complexion with blue shading, light brown hair tied with a band. Sky background. Glazed, in a rectangular ebonised frame with gilt border and ring. Frances Maria (d.1840), daughter of William Mostyn Owen and Rebecca Crewe Dod, of Woodhouse, Shropshire. She married in 1800, the Reverend Richard Hill, later Noel-Hill and the 4th Lord Berwick. She became Mrs Noel-Hill in 1824, but died before her husband became Lord Berwick.
Provenance
Possibly 4th Lord Berwick collection: Rev. Richard Noel-Hill, 4th Baron Berwick (1774-1848). By descent bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
