Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, An Unknown Lady by Charles Bestland (possibly Cantelo W. Bestland)(London c.1763 – 1837), circa 1790. Oval. Head and shoulder portrait of an young lady turned slightly to the right, wearing a black dress. Brown eyes, fair hair and pink complexion. Pale brown background. Set in a plain gilt locket fitted as a brooch. The sitter has not been identified. She appears to be a lady aged about thirty, her clothes and hair style suggesting a date around 1790.

Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
