Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Hereford Cow by H. I. Quintin (fl.1844-1888), signed and dated bottom right:H. I. QUINTIN PINXT – 1847. Portrait of a Hereford cow, in profile to the left. Standing in a field of grazing sheep, fence posts to the left and various plants and wild flowers in the foreground. Hereford cattle were bred at Cronkhill by Richard Noel-Hill, 5th Baron Berwick (1800-1861) and are celebrated in this painting and a series of sixteen cattle portraits by William Henry Davis.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust in 1947 with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
