Summary
One of a pair of mahogany cutlery urns, or knife urns, English, circa 1775. Faceted, and with twelve sides. The hinged, stepped and broadening cover topped by a spire finial. The interior fitted with a top pierced for cutlery of various sizes in five stepped tiers. On a waisted socle and a mahogany-veneered and tulipwood-crossbanded oak base with ogee bracket feet. Strung throughout with holly and ebony and with sycamore and mahogany chequer inlay.
