Summary
A mahogany and satinwood-strung secretaire cabinet, English, early 19th century, altered. The top above a drawer edged with satinwood and fitted with brass handles with oval backplates. The drawer front hinged and once fitted to the interior with a secretaire arrangement, which has been removed. All above a pair of doors lined with brocade and enclosing mahogany-fronted deal shelves. The back of paneled deal. Raised on castors and original feet lacking.
Provenance
Attingham collection; listed amongst 'Residuary Effects' in the Probate Valuation taken at Attingham Park in 1947 (p. 27). Bequeathed with the estate, house and partial contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) and transferred to the National Trust on 15th May 1953.
