Summary
A mahogany open armchair, English, circa 1790, one of a pair. Having a moulded, shield-shaped back with a carved and pierced vase-shaped splat decorated to the centre with a spray of three 'Prince of Wales'-type feathers, and with a pair of rosettes. The seat upholstered in black horsehair in 1991 and between open arms on moulded arm supports. Raised on four rectangular-section legs; the front legs with a carved bead to their front outer corners and with chamfers. All joined by an 'H'-stretcher and a higher rear stretcher.
