Summary
Chalk on brown paper. Thomas Harwood the elder (1661-1738), British (English) School. Head and shoulder portrait of Thomas Harwood, aged about thirty, turned slightly to the right and head almost facing. Wearing a long powdered wig, white stock and great coat. Glazed in plain giltwood frame, wide flat border.
Provenance
4th Lord Berwick collection (Rev. Richard Noel-Hill, 1774-1848, 4th Baron Berwick). By descent Attingham collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
