Summary
A child's chemise, part of a folk costume from Austria, made from white cotton lawn. Originally a corset cover for a woman dating from around 1900-1940, the sleeveless "chemise" is decorated on the neckline and shoulder straps with white crochet cotton lace and has an original silk taffeta drawstring around the neckline for adjustment, intact. It is unlined and fastens with six self-covered buttons centre front, intact. There is ribbon insertion around the waistline, ribbon missing.
