Summary
Woman’s dress. Black satin short-sleeved dress with a turquoise blue finely pleated silk chiffon under dress. The front of the skirt is infilled with a very fine black silk netting embroidered in cream and black silk floss. The bodice is overlaid with black silk chiffon. Under the arms of the bodice, the black chiffon overlays a layer of the fine embroidered netting and a layer of blue silk chiffon. The CF and CB of the bodice are not overlaid. The top edge of each is trimmed with black bugle beads and there is a loosely gathered black silk satin cummerbund lined with black chiffon that fastens at the proper left side with metal press stud fastenings. The outer bodice opens on the proper left side front. It is lined with an inner bodice of fine cream silk fastening CF with metal hooks and eyes. There is an internal waistband of cream cotton and silk grosgrain to which an embroidered label with the makers name is stitched at CB. The cuffs and neck are trimmed with black satin.
