Summary
A woman's sleeve (single) made from white linen lawn. The sleeve is decorated with broderie anglaise embroidery on the scallop-edged cuff and the lower third of the sleeve and is otherwise undecorated. Internally, the sleeve is unlined and has no fastenings. Written on the upper sleeve, outer, in copperplate black ink "Ann Boyd".
Provenance
Gift of Heather Boyd? Very similar writing to other marked items from the Boyd family, and Ann Boyd is highly unlikely to be the donor regardless, as the sleeve dates to 1850-60.
Marks and inscriptions
Handwritten on the upper hem, outer surface.: Handwritten on the sleeve, upper hem, reads, "Ann Boyd". See associated photograph for further details.
