Summary
Woman’s stole. Cream spotted cotton net stole with three ruffles around neck that are stitched to a wide cream silk grosgrain ribbon. The ruffles are trimmed with a cream silk crepeline ribbon with a black edging. The stole has two long ties of the net that hang down the front and are trimmed with two frills of net edged with the crepeline ribbon.
Provenance
Gift of Heather Boyd. Probably worn by donor's grandmother, Lady Boyd, wife of Sir Walter Boyd, a High Court judge. They attended many state occasions in England and Ireland during the reigns of Victoria, Edward VII and George V.
