Summary
A woman's bodice for a wedding ensemble, made from cream grosgrain silk. The half-sleeved bodice has a trumpet-shaped cuff at elbow level, with gathered sleeve heads and a shawl collar made from cream needle point lace in a floral pattern. It is gathered on the bodice front for shaping from shoulder to hem. The bodice is fully lined in a combination of cream silk and cream glazed cotton, with two original silk sweat pads, sixteen boning strips and eleven hooks and eyes centre front for fastening, intact. A maker's label embroidered onto the inner waist tie reads, "Mrs AS. Cleland, 26 Wellington Place, Belfast. Court Dressmaker".
