Summary
A woman's bodice, part of a dress, made from rust-coloured silk with an overlay of black machine-embroidered Chantilly-style cotton lace. The bodice is trimmed with lace ruffles on the collar and front facings and has a lace integral shoulder cape, with rust silk satin ribbon creating large bows on each shoulder and lining the front facings, ending in another bow.The lower hem is trimmed with a black silk satin ribbon. Internally, the bodice is fully lined in rust cotton sateen, with thirteen boning strips, three hooks & eyes and a silk cord for lacing centre front. A handwritten marking on the inner neckline of the bodice reads, "Hamilton, Donaghadee", the donor.
