Summary
A baby's christening robe made from white cotton lawn. The long-sleeved robe has a flounced broderie anglaise cuff, with the bib and upper skirt front made from vertical bands of broderie anglaise, torchon lace and feather stitch embroidery with a broderie anglaise vertical flounce. The lower part of the skirt is made from four horizontal flounces of broderie anglaise and with a scalloped hem. The robe is unlined and fastened with two cotton ties centre back, both missing. A small handwritten label sewn to an inner seam reads, "C. Cumine", the donor's family.
