Summary
A woman's bodice, part of a suit, made from lavender chine silk taffeta. The capped-sleeved bodice is decorated with interlocking rings in an abstract pattern, with cream cotton lace trim on the neckline and the sleeve ends. Internally the bodice is fully lined in white glazed cotton, with one surviving boning strip centre front and eleven hooks and eyes centre front for fastening, intact. The bodice has been altered historically, with an unfinished lower hem and some areas of the lining having been replaced. Printed in black ink on the inner lining of the sleeve cuff, "Horrockses, Miller & Co Manufacture".
Provenance
