Summary
Two Samplers, dated 1748/9, Mary Taylor. Two samplers framed together. Left - Linen embroidered with coloured silks using cross stitch. Lettering only. 'The Apostles Creed. Inscribed 'Mary Taylor, February the 14 1749'. Right - Linen embroidered with coloured silks using cross stitch. Lettering only. Alphabet, numerals and Lord's Prayer. Inscribed 'Mary Taylor January the 9 17489' Note The double year date was used between 1 January and 25 March (Old New Year's Day) until the reform of the Calendar in 1752.
