Oil painting on canvas, Mrs Halliwell as an Old Woman, by William Scott (Leicestershire 1797-1862), inscribed on reverse 1840. A half-length portrait of an elderly woman, facing, gazing at the spectator.wearing a lace bonnet decorated with grey satin bows, and a red shawl, with multicoloured edging. Inscribed on reverse 1840. Canvas stamped 'Geo. Rowney and Co, 51 Rathbone Place, London' Label reading 'J C Grundy, Carver Gilder, Printseller to the Queen, 4 Exchange St, Manchester'. Elizabeth Halliwell (née Gardener, 1797-1862) of Manchester was a relation of Francis 'Frank' William Green (1861–1954) through Mary Lycett, Frank Green's mother. See also NT 593150.
