Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Francis 'Frank' William Green FSA (1861-1954) by Prince Pierre (Peter) Troubetzkoy (1864 - 1936) - rather than his sculptor brother Prince Paolo Troubetzkoy (1866-1938) as previously recorded - circa 1894; as recorded in 1930 guidebook. A full-length portrait of a young man, standing, turned slightly to the right, gazing at the spectator, his left hand in his pocket and his right hand by his side, wearing a grey suit and a bow tie.
Provenance
Possibly at Nunthorpe Hall, York until death of Mary Lycett, Lady Green (d. 1902), wife of 1st Baronet, Sir Edward Green, the sitter's father, and taken to Treasurer's House in early 1900s; first recorded in 1909 but at Darrington Hall, Pontefract (home of Sir Edward Arthur Lycett Green, 3rd Bt (1886 -1941), the sitter's nephew, and his wife whom he married 1909) by 1912 until 1925 when recorded again at Treasurer's House, York; given by Francis 'Frank' William Green FSA (1861-1954) in 1930
