Summary
Oil painting on canvas, King Charles II (1630-1685) after Adriaen Hannemann (The Hague c.1601 – The Hague 1671). Three-quarter-length portrait of King Charles II as a young man, turned slightly to the right, gazing at the spectator, his right arm leaning on a stone ledge and holding a baton in his left hand, he is wearing a cuirass over a leather jerkin, with brown embroidered sleeve, and a blue sash, rocks on the left and a distant horizon with a town, hills and cloudy sky to the right.

This is one of the numerous copies painted from a lost original of c.1648, generally believed to have been by Adriaen Hanneman (c1601-1671).
