Summary
Eight day balloon clock in mahogany case, by Massey, Lambeth, London, c.1810. Two train, five pillar fusee movement with an engraved backplate, anchor escapement and rack, hour-striking on bell on the backplate. 8” diameter, convex, white painted dial with roman numerals and signed in the plain dial centre: “MASSEY / LAMBETH”, Gilt, spade hands. The mahogany veneered case has lacquered brass mounts, including carrying handles to the sides a sunburst mount on the front and curved bracket feet. The rear door has a silk-lined brass sound fret. The case stands on its original, matching mahogany veneered bracket.
