Summary

Oil painting on canvas, Pauline Jermyn, Lady Trevelyan (1816-1866) by William Bell Scott (Edinburgh 1811 - Penkill Castle 1890), inscribed, on the back: William B. Scott. Aug. 1864. A head-and-shoulders portrait of a woman in profile to left, wearing a black and whte striped dress and holding a bunch of red and white roses; green and gold curtain background.

Provenance

James Leathart (1820 -1895) and thence by descent; given to Sir Charles Trevelyan by Mrs William Sample in about 1946; bequeathed with the property to the National Trust in 1941 by Sir Charles Philips Trevelyan, 3rd Bt (1870-1958)
