Summary
A mahogany architect's table, English, circa 1770. The moulded rectangular top rising on a ratchet system to have double adjustable working surfaces, the top surface with an optional book-rest ledge, the frieze drawer divided into compartments with a sliding baize-lined cover, the front right compartment also accessed from the side as a drawer, raised on enclosed columnar legs, the four-bolt lock numbered 6734, the elaborate brass handle depicting a bearded male mask and C-scrolls.

Originally on loan from Simon Francis Raymond Pettitand then purchased by the National Trust.
