Summary
Abbess and Novice, each reading from a book on her knee, one book inscribed 'Of Purgatory' ( the Novice,) and the other 'Of Absolution', (the Abbess ) the covers peach coloured with red line decoration. Both figures wear pink lined black habits over white robes, the Abbess has an underskirt of pink, on oval flat bases. This is the Novice.
Provenance
Bought from D.M. and P. Manheim at the Grosvenor House Antiques Fair, 13 June 1962. The models are taken from Bow and are one eighth smaller than the originals which means that the mould was taken from the original Bow figures
