Summary
Beaker or drinking cup, porcelain, bell-shaped cup on a raised domed foot, with fine relief moulded scattered flowers, insects and outlines, made in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province, China, 1760-1780; decorated in underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze polychrome (famille rose) enamels and gold, with two large ogee-shaped quatrefoil panels, each with a female figure in a garden carrying a pole and basket of flowers, perhaps the immortal He Xiangu, against a fine fish-roe diaper ground with insects, flowers and foliage in reserve, inside rim and foot with a cell-border.
