Full description
This platter has a label inscribed "Lucknow 1859", indicating it was acquire by Sir Charles Trevelyan who was a Civil Servant in India in 1859, and acquired objects looted during the Siege of Lucknow. It may have been part of a large table service used by the French in India or by princely families in India who traded with the French. The service is a rare pattern, perhaps for the French market.
