Print, mezzotint, William Waynflete (1395-1486) Bishop of Winchester by John Faber the elder (The Hague c.1660 - Bristol 1721). Printed in the 18th century for Henry Parker, Bookseller, 82 Cornhill. Bishop Wainfleet was Lord Cromwell's executor and largely responsible for completing the College buildings as instructed in Cromwell's will. Inscribed: 'Gulielmus Patten als: Waynfleet totius Angliae Cancells: Episc: Winton Coll: B: Mariae Magd: Oxon et Aulae adjunctae fund. Ao 1459 Hanc effigiem Revdo: Viro Jo: Harwar S.T.P. et istius Coll: Praesidi Dignissmo: a Tabula in suis AEdibus asservata fact:m summa cum Humil: & Observantia D.D.D. J: Faber Ao 1712' Waynflete was the founder of Magdalen College, Oxford, three-quarter length, wearing mitre and bishop's robes, and holding a crosier and a book; coat of arms in lower margin.
