Summary
White-painted statue of Saint Susanna after Duquesnoy, on marble base with marble pedestal (yellow). Original marble statue in S. Maria di Loreto, Rome, made by Francois Duquesnoy in 1629-31. Matthew Brettingham obtained mould from Roman architect Paolo Posi. This example probably made by John Cheere from Brettingham's moulds, 1765-66. Henry Hoare's (1705-85) wife Susan Colt died 1743; his daughter Susanna died 1784.
