Summary
White-painted statue of Meleager after the antique. On marble pedestal (red). Original formerly in Pighini collection and now in the Vatican, Rome (Haskell and Penny, p.263, no.60). Hunter shown with boar's head but without dog. Payment to John cheere in November 1762. Probably cast from moulds obtained from Rome by Matthew Brettingham junior before 1754. Pendant to Diana opposite.
