Summary
Plaster sculpture, Homer (880 BC - 701 BC), probably by John Cheere (1709 – London 1787). Life size plaster portrait bust of Homer (no accounts extant). Well known from several versions in Rome at the Capitoline Museum, Palazzo Farnese and Villa Albani. Portrait in long series of portaits of writers in Wren Library at Trinity College, Cambridge. Repaired by Cliveden Conservation Workshop 1992.
