Summary
A spinet by Thomas Hitchcock, London No. 1193. In a walnut case and on a turned stand. Thomas Hitchcock the Younger, maker of this instrument, was probably son of Thomas Hitchcock who worked from 1664 to 1703. The working years of Thomas the Younger are thought to be from 1690 to 1715. Prince George Chavchavadze, a White Russian who was an accomplished pianist, gave a recital on this instrument in the Great Hall on 29th March 1931. He signed the spinet as a reminder of the evening.
