Summary
Original description: Mahogany spinet standing on a square legged frame united by similar stretchers, veneered in panel outline by boxwood stringing and mounted with shaped brass hinges and other rosettes NOTE: Description by Ben Marks, 2018: A late 18th century bentside spinet signed ‘Longman and Broderip Musical Instrument Makers / No 26 Cheapside and No. 13 Haymarket, London’ resting on a (later?) trestle stand. The (oak?) case veneered with mahogany, crossbanded with stained sycamore or maple and inlaid with single lines of holly. There is a lid-prop stick of some age, but which is unlikely to be original, and a modern tuning hammer, which is not suitable for use. The chromatic compass FF (no FF#) – f'''.
