Summary
A carved giltwood fauteuil, French, circa 1780. Upholstered in Aubusson style tapestry depicting vignettes of dogs within floral wreaths and below tasselled drapery, the moulded rectangular back with musical trophy crest and uprights with rosettes and pointed finials, the padded arms with incurved uprights carved with overlapping coin motif, the seat with ribbon-twist and egg and dart carved rails, on fluted tapering legs headed with rosettes, stencilled to the underside 53979.
