Summary
Lid from Teapot (théière Calabre), marked with ‘x’ for Étienne Evans (act. 1752-86), a painter of birds, butterflies and flowers, interlaced L’s for Louis XV enclosing the date letter T for 1772. Note: Shape was in production from 1752, it was the most popular model available in five sizes. Teapot and cover with finely painted exotic birds and flowers in oval panels, part of a forty nine piece Sevres tea service of bleu-de-roi ground, consisting of twelve tea bowls, nine cups with handles, ten saucers, twelve tea bowl saucers, teapot with cover, sucrier with cover and four plates.
