Summary
Cup (gobelet Calabre) with handle, one of nine, marked variously with ‘N’ in script for François-Joseph Aloncle (act.1758-81), a painter of birds, and interlaced L’s for Louis XV enclosing the date letter R and T for 1770 and 1772. From a partial 49-piece tea and dessert service, soft-paste porcelain, comprising teapot, sugar box, 12 teabowls, nine cups and ten saucers, painted with birds in reserves against an underglaze bleu nouveau (new blue) ground, tooled gold laurel leaf and line bands, bases marked variously in blue enamel, Sèvres, France, c. 1770-72.
