Figure of 'Liberty', soft paste porcelain, a man wearing a tricorn hat standing on a grassy mound holding a bird's nest with chicks, possibly Chelsea-Derby, 1770-84; decorated with enamels and coloured glazes, with black hat, green overcoat, pink waistcoat, the breeches with a regular patterns of gilt flowers surrounded by red and green enamel circles black shoes, the base coloured in green with floral encrustations, gilt details to base and shoes. Gold anchor mark to back of base.

Figure of 'Liberty', soft paste porcelain, a man wearing a tricorn hat standing on a grassy mound holding a bird's nest with chicks, possibly Chelsea-Derby, 1770-84; decorated with enamels and coloured glazes, with black hat, green overcoat, pink waistcoat, the breeches with a regular patterns of gilt flowers surrounded by red and green enamel circles black shoes, the base coloured in green with floral encrustations, gilt details to base and shoes. Gold anchor mark to back of base. The model was originally produced by Derby, 1760-65 with a companion female figure holding a bird cage, representing 'Matrimony' (Twitchett, 2002, colour plate 2, p. 25). NB: there are traces of patch marks to the edges of the base of the figure, but the base hollowed out rather than flat, which might indicate later production.
