Summary
One of a pair of copies of the Croft cups. Made by Goldsmith's Company for the 1st Lord Croft, sold by Sotheby's Lot 81 Nov 1937 now in British museum (James II two handle cups, engraved in 1719, gifts of Sir Herbert Croft, 1st Bart to his son and daughter Mrs. Oakley and to his son and daughter Mrs. Moseley) Marked Crichton Bros., New York Street, London.
Provenance
Loaned to The National Trust by Michael Henry Glendower Page Croft, 2nd Baron (1916-1997) before 1993; accepted by HM Government in Lieu of Inheritance Tax from the estate of Michael Henry Glendower Page Croft and allocated to The National Trust for display at Croft Castle in 2004.
