Summary
Oval oil painting on canvas, George Hammond Lucy MP (1798 – 1845), by Friedrich von Amerling (Vienna 1803 - Vienna 1887), inscribed on back of canvas: Amerling 1841. An oval, head and shoulders portrait of George Hammond Lucy. He is positioned slightly to the left, looking towards the left. He is dressed in a black coat with a white shirt and thick black cravat. He wears a red embroidered waistcoat. In an oval giltwood frame. George Hammond Lucy was the son of Reverend John Lucy and Maria Lane. He was MP for Fowey, and married Mary Elizabeth, daughter of Sir John Williams Bt. of Bodelwyddan, Flintshire in 1823.

Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946
