Summary
A set of ebonized bed steps, English, circa 1840. Consists of two treads, the uppermost tread hinged and concealing a pot cupboard. Both treads lined with a rectangle of red fabric. The bottom tread is edged with scroll-carved sides. The steps sit on four turned legs. Plain interior includes a dyed red wool sheep skin for the pot to sit on. Inside is a white ceramic glazed chamber pot with one handle. Plain interior, makers mark ‘solian ware. England. B’
